Some people have recently discovered the market that is available for selling and buying reconditioned stair lifts. This is not a bad idea as stair lifts can be modified to fit the needs of the current user with very little effort. For example, if you need to make a straight stair lift longer than it already is, there are kits which allow you to extend the length of the rods that the lifts run on. These are usually known as “joining kits”. If you are looking at a stair lift that is longer than you require, it is not difficult to shorten the rails length to accommodate your needs. Another important feature is the fact that most of these straight stair lifts can be easily changed so that the seat will be positioned for either the right or left side, depending on what is needed.
Until very recently the problem with trying to buy a used stair lift for a curved staircase system was that it was not nearly as easy for individual users to adjust it and make it fit into their property as easily as the straight stair lift. This trend is changing as many of the curved stair lift systems are being made in a more modular design so that they can be broken down and changed to fit into different areas. This ability to take the curved stair lifts and unbolt them in sections has made it much simpler for individuals with disabilities to buy reconditioned stair lifts for these curved systems.
