As water fountains start getting used more and more in the home, the number of styles and designs is increasing proportionately. Regardless of personal interior design tastes, whether this is contemporary or rustic, a water fountain offers an inimitable way of augmenting the surrounding décor. As well as the different styles and designs currently available on the market, the number of places in your home that could benefit from one of these fountains is large as well.

Floor standing fountains are great for putting into those empty spaces that you would otherwise struggle to fill with something. As with most fountains, these come in a plethora of shapes, sizes, great designs and styles so whether it is a small space to fill or just adding to a larger room, there will definitely be a floor standing fountain available to you.

Fountains have the unique ability to combine one, or many different materials, which therefore give it a great ability to blend in with any design. Not only that but the actual combinations and/or choices you have for this mix-and-match is huge. The materials can include anything from stainless steel, glass, copper, slate, marble and stone; and this is just to name a few. They can all combine wonderfully to produce a stunning masterpiece of pure elegance.

Another design of fountain that is really popular at the moment is the wall hanging fountain. In fact, the rate at which these are becoming popular means that they will soon be surpassing traditional wall-hung pictures as the most popular wall decoration. The great thing about these fountains is that they are totally inconspicuous; meaning literally any wall that has some space is an ideal location for them.

An indoor water fountain has the great ability of ensuring the home decor will blend perfectly with each other, making any room the envy of all that behold it. But don’t be fooled, having a lovely indoor water fountain is not only about the visual aspect. The sound of bubbling water is probably the most relaxing and soothing sounds known to man and it offers a background ambience like no other. Whether you are entertaining guests or are just sitting alone reading a book in a conservatory, the trickling sound of background water will enthral and captivate you, allowing you to sit back and relax.

A fountain can also help to improve the air quality of any room by adding to the humidity. As long as the water basin remains full, you can experience the good health that comes with good air quality.

When considering all of the available options, it can be difficult to decide on a hot tub that will work out best for your needs. This is because there are so many different models that you might be wondering what each model does and how that should relate to your decision. One of the first things you will want to be certain of before you start to seriously look at a hot tub for your home is the amount of room that you can dedicate for this particular purpose.

Once you know what size hot tub you can consider then this will help to narrow down your options, and weed out those tubs that will not work for your space requirements. After you’ve decided on the size, the next considerations are the different brands and styles that are offered. This is where it can get confusing as there are so many options that you could find yourself wondering what the differences are and how they can benefit you.

For example, if you are looking to get a hot tub for medical reasons then you should check into those tubs that offer ergonomic designs and therapeutic water jets that are specifically positioned to help you deal with muscle and back pain. It is possible for you to get a hot tub with more than one hundred jets positioned around the tub to improve your blood circulation and relieve muscle tension. Jets that are positioned near the feet can propel hot water directly up onto the soles of your feet, creating a massaging sensation which helps to alleviate a number of ailments and problems on top of the increase in circulation.

After you have looked at a number of different models online, and narrowed down your list to those that will best work for your situation, then the next step is to try and physically look at the hot tubs in question to see if they match your specifications in person. You do not want to buy anything as large as a hot tub without first looking them over and inspecting them first hand. The reason for this is that while something may look like it will work online it may not be exactly what you are looking for.

Once you’ve decided you want to install stone flooring in your home, you have another choice to make: what kind of stone do you want to use in your house? There are several different options, each with its own advantages. Some are gorgeous, while others are incredibly durable and will hold up to years of heavy traffic. It all depends on your budget, where you’re placing the stones, and what look you’re going for.

Granite is one of the more popular materials to use, especially in kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, and other very high traffic areas. Granite looks amazing, and many people choose granite simply for its visual appeal. This is why granite is sometimes used on facades and other areas, not just flooring. One of the downsides to granite is that it’s more expensive than some of the other stone materials; however, granite does have a very long lifespan, so even though it costs more initially, it will last longer than other stones. This is because granite is an incredibly hard stone – it’s actually only a point or two below diamond on the hardness scale. Granite can also be found in a number of different shades and colours.

Another material useful for stone flooring is marble. Marble is very elegant and beautiful, and many consider it a flooring classic since it has been used in a number of famous buildings around the world. Every piece of marble is unique. No two pieces have the exact same vein pattern. Like granite, you can find marble in several different colours and shades. Once the stone is polished up, it is incredibly beautiful. It’s also somewhat expensive.

Slate isn’t quite as elegant as marble or granite, but it is very slip resistant, which makes it great for an entryway or bathroom. It’s also a very durable stone. Because of its subtle texture, you’ll find that slate fits with most of your décor. Slate can take a lot of wear and tear, and it will last for years. It’s a good cost-effective stone for any floor. Because it’s affordable, durable, and looks good, slate is often used for commercial buildings as well as homes.

Limestone is another choice. This sedimentary stone is created from compressed seashells and bones from the ocean floor. The calcium from these items combines from the carbon dioxide to create calcium carbonate, the foundation of both limestone and marble. Because of this, limestone has some very subtle colour and vein variations that can bring a great look to any room. Limestone, while not as durable as other stones, is certainly distinct and beautiful.

The humble bathroom should ideally be an area of your home where you feel comfortable and relaxed. However, much to our dismay home designers tend to squeeze the bathroom into the smallest, coldest and darkest room possible so they can become the bane of our existence for many years to come. If you have ever crept to the bathroom on a cold winter’s night barefoot and shivering only to stumble in a dark cold bathroom and meet a freezing cold toilet seat you know what we are talking about. There is good news however, with a little cash your bathroom can transform it into the perfect comfortable paradise it should be.

For those of you who already have bathrooms and no extra space to make it bigger such as building an extension or knocking a wall down, you don’t need to give up just yet. Even with restricted space you can still create the perfect luxury bathroom heaven with a little design preparation.

Creating Some Space

If you need more floor space in your bathroom consider rearranging your bathroom suite. When purchasing a brand new suite you don’t need to put them in where your other suite was. It may mean a little extra work is needed but something as simple as this really can dramatically improve floor space in your bathroom. In the worst case scenario you can also consider removing the bath and having a single shower cubicle instead to improve on space. Naturally this isn’t a good idea if you love your bath too much.

Turn up the Heat

Try including under floor heating in your bathroom. This will mean no more cold floors and surfaces in the bathroom. Under floor heating will dramatically improve the overall warmth and comfortable feeling of your bathroom and is set to a thermostat so that you can always ensure your bathroom is the right temperature for you.

Add Some Extra Light

Even if you have a small frosted window with no curtains you can still improve on the lighting in your bathroom. Many people now install luxury bathroom lighting to improve both the atmosphere when taking a long soak in the tub, and the overall lighting of the bathroom. Yes you can have extra LED lighting in your bathroom safely and many have small coloured lights along the base of the bath tub to compliment their bathroom suite and decorations.

Storage Solutions

There are also a great variety of different storage solutions now available for the modern bathroom you may wish to consider. You can have cupboards underneath the sink, wall hangings, corner shelves and more. The possibilities are endless for your new bathroom suite.

When planning any changes to an existing bathroom there are four things you need to plan out carefully beforehand:

Measure out your existing plumbing, windows and doors and create an accurate diagram of their position in your bathroom.

Plan out the layout of your new suite and how to get them where you want them.

Plan out and construction work that may be required for the job including moving walls, knocking down walls, moving doors and the enlargement of windows.

Plan out any changes to the services you may need such as electricity, water and drainage.

So you have picked out the perfect swimming pool and even the very best in high quality mechanical glass pool shelters so that you can enjoy your new swimming pool all year round, but it doesn’t stop there. For many people looking to buy a swimming pool today, a swimming pool means not just the water to splash around in, but also a pool side Cabana to utilise as a changing room, store pool equipment or as a sauna. The ultimate in swimming pool luxury includes the perfect outbuilding to accompany it and your swimming pool design will need to ensure it accommodates this essential extra. Firstly you will need to plan out what type of swimming pool you are going to have and what type of swimming pool shelter. Once you have an idea of what you want you will need to call up your local council for advice on the local planning permissions and regulations. Then draw up a plan of your garden to scale and map out where your swimming pool will sit, how much room on top of this the shelter will occupy and where your Cabana will fit in nearby. This will allow you to identify common problems such as a lack of garden space for all three of these items or perhaps the need for a reshuffle. It may be the case that turning the pool on its side will help you fit this in, it may be that buying a Cabana will use up too much garden space leaving you with no greenery left and you may therefore decide to give the Cabana a miss for now. It may be more prudent for you to build an entire outbuilding for your pool, storage facilities and sauna to be contained in which offers the additional benefit of privacy whilst you enjoy the pool. You can even create a special type of outbuilding made from glass that allows you to see the great sunny day outside and relax in the sun but appears blackened out to nosy neighbours.

In addition to this, your plan will also highlight problem areas that can affect your planning permission for a swimming pool. This includes height restrictions, space restrictions and location restrictions so make sure you plan everything out carefully beforehand. Once you have planned out your swimming pool, shelter and pool side Cabana properly you can safely proceed to purchasing your new swimming pool and associated extras without the worry of restrictions and design problems along the way.

Imagine how convenient and powerful you’ll feel driving up to your home, pressing a single button, and watching your garage door open. The first time you do this, you’ll feel like you’re a millionaire coming home to your giant mansion. But you may think this is simply much too expensive. However, turning a standard garage door into an automatic garage door really isn’t that hard, and it’s one project that just about anyone can do themselves because the kits are easy to install and have very detailed step by step instructions.

First, before you purchase an automatic garage door kit, you need to be sure you purchase one that is for the right type of garage door. If you have a sectional roll-up (a garage door made of several panels held together by hinges), be sure the garage door kit is for sectionals. The same goes for a tilt-up garage door. The two are motorised in different ways, so make certain you have the right stuff before you begin installation.

Once you have the correct motorised attachments, it’s time to get to work. You’re probably going to need at least one other person to help you automate your garage door because you’ll need to lift some things up to the ceiling of your garage. It can be difficult to hold some of these items while attaching them to the ceiling and it can be dangerous if you try to do this alone. You don’t want to fall off the ladder and land on the hard floor of your garage, after all.

Once you’ve got the hardware installed up on the ceiling, you may have to make a few decisions. One is concerning the indoor button to open and close your garage door. Most kits include a button, and it is very convenient to be able to open your garage door without using your car remote if you need to go in and out the garage but won’t be getting in the car. If you’d like, you can actually install the garage door button so that it looks like it’s always been there. This involves cutting a hole into your wall, of course, and it also involves wiring the garage door into your home’s power system. This can be dangerous, and it’s advisable that you contact a professional electrician to deal with it.

The other option doesn’t look quite as pretty but it’s much easier. Some garage doors have battery-powered buttons for opening the door. You just stick a few batteries in them, mount them anywhere you like, and you’re good to go. These buttons won’t look quite as nice since they won’t be flush with the wall, but they’re much easier to handle. Of course, you can always cut a small hole around them and recess them if you’d like.

Automating your garage door has many uses. Safety is one of the biggest bonuses you get out of automating the door. You can drive right into your garage and lower the door, so you won’t have to be concerned about walking from your car to your front door in the dark ever again.
